How To Make Your Home Look Like You Hired An Interior Designer

Do you want to design an HGTV style home on a budget? While we can’t always afford to higher our own interior designers, we can still create the home of our dreams! Even if you can’t afford big upgrades, the right style can go a long way! It takes a lot of work to make a room like polished, professional, and pulled together. Utilizing your own personal design and preferences when designing your own home gives you a chance to make a space that is uniquely yours! Let’s explore some tips for designing the home of your dreams, no matter how big or small your budget is at the moment!

Find Your Inspiration

The first step to crafting your dream home is to find your inspiration. What kind of home-style speaks to you? What colors and patterns draw you in? While you shouldn’t completely duplicate a single look, you can use it to build a personal style for your own home. Start on Pinterest by searching for home design boards. Create your own home with your favorite pictures that speak to you! You’ll have a whole digital board that shows all your favourite things!

Keep it Simple

One of the main reasons a lot of new home designers fail with their own homes is because they go overboard. It’s tempting to add all of your favorite things to one space! You love purple prints but you also want that splash of gold and blue! After adding too many colors, styles, and prints, your space will end up looking like a mess instead of a put together design.

Keep it simple by sticking to one or two patterns and a short list of complementary colors and shades. Use the main color for the walls of the room and then another color for accents. You might even add a final third color for little touches! Avoid doing a single room in one color since that can look boring! You can’t go wrong with two or three!

Start with a Single Room

It’s tempting when you start designing to overhaul your entire home! This can get overwhelming quickly, and it might lead to designer burnout. If you’re working on a budget, it makes sense to go one room at a time. Start with a room you frequent like the living room or even the kitchen. Once you master the upgrade to one space, you’ll feel more confident to take on new spaces! Maybe you can upgrade the space or install new appliances or The RTA Cabinets. Small changes go farther than you think!

Add Personalization

No home is complete without some personalization! How can you take your favorite styles and make them your own? Maybe you add big framed photos from your favorite trips or you add your favorite knick-knacks. Don’t underestimate the power a few statement pieces! Do you love your oversized gold chair? Why not make it the inspiration for the rest of your bedroom? Take whatever inspiration you have and run with it!

Designing Your Dream Home

Your dream home is closer than you think! Don’t get caught up flipping through pages of home design magazines! You don’t have to be an interior designer to create the home of your dreams. Start simple with a single room and a single design and grow from there! You’ll gain confidence and skills as you go, no matter how big your budget!
